Veronicah joined the Women Like Us Center in February of 2019.  She didn’t know anything about sewing and/or sewing machines.  As she told us, she didn’t even know how to thread a needle.  Most recently she graduated from 10 months of sewing training at the center and now can make skirts, blouses, purses and more. The women at the Women Like Us Center are living at the edge and or in the Nakuru Kenya slums.  Their days were long.  Their hopes were low.  Their resources practically nil. Now their lives are changing. Not only with skills of sewing, farming and poultry raising, but through the wages they are now able to earn. It takes a village to bring these women, their families and their communities to a level of self-esteem and self-worth that can bring them better lives.  And when they contribute, they are treated better by their husbands. Veronicah is on her way…we’re so proud of her accomplishments.  And because of her new skills she is able to get a job as a domestic, start her own business and get employment at a local uniform company.
